2012 Color of the Year: Tangerine Tango

Pantone pronounced that the color of the year for 2012 is a bright reddish orange called Tangerine Tango.




Pantone Inc. is a corporation best known for its Pantone Matching Systems, a proprietary color space used in a variety of industries, primarily printing, though sometimes in the manufacture of colored paint, fabric, and plastics.

Pantone says the "spirited reddish orange" provides much needed energy for 2012.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, says, "Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it. Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy."

We have seen a lot of nude tones last year, and nude shades compliment the brightness and liveliness of the Tangerine Tango so don't toss those items just yet!
