Spicy Korean Noodle Challenge is one of the most popular challenges on the internet. The noodle is called Buldak Bokkeum Myeon (불닭볶음면), it is a brand of ramen from South Korea that launched in 2012. It became famous due to the Fire Noodle Challenge videos people make.
I have been meaning to do the challenge but kept on delaying it because I know I won't be able to do it. Until one day, I decided to just do it!
WHERE TO GET IT :
I got mine from a Korean Mart in Cubao, near Farmer's Market and MRT Cubao. But this noodle is always available at other Korean marts, too. There lots of those in Ortigas, Makati, Fairview, etc.
Each pack costs Php 60.
Here is the video. I hope you find it funny how I spoke 2 languages in the video. I thought it would be more natural to speak in Filipino during those moments when I felt like my tongue was on fire.
If you ate taking this challenge, I suggest you take a photo first before eating. I doubt you'd be able to smile and pose once you feel the spiciness!
I also suggest you prepare milk, ice cream and/or frozen yogurt. Chilies contain a substance that makes taste buds sting. These heat-detecting sends messages straight to the brain causing you to feel the heat! Milk, however, contains casein, a fat-loving compound that binds with spicy contents and then washes it away.
So, that's how the milk helps revive you. Water is not advisable as is just spreads the heat around your mouth making it even worse.
Wad I able to finish overcome the challenge? The answer is NO. Well, I almost made it but I had to spit the last bite because I was really feeling nauseous then. But it was a fun challenge! I'm sure it would have been double-fun if I did it with some friends or with my BF.
Try this if you dare! But don't tell me I didn't warn you. IT IS SPICY!
